RAKS,New Exchanges & A Stitching Dilemma!

My other two RAK's have now arrived at their destination so I can share them with you all. This little bluebird pillow was for the lovely  Nataly. She loves primitive designs and blue colours so I;m delighted to say that she was very happy with her surprise gift.

My second RAK was for another lovely stitching friend Pam. The little pincushion was part of a Raisetheroof design. Pam was also delighted with her gift.

Both Nataly and Pam have been great supporters of my Exchange group. The group has been a great success. Our next Exchange is going to be split into two. As this is a big year off celebration in the UK with the Queens Diamond Jubilee and hosting the Olympic games there is going to be a British themed exchange for the UK ladies and running along side will be a Patriotic themed exchange for the other overseas girls. If you would like to come join in the fun check out the Stitchedwithlove Exchange link on the right hand side of my blog. I will be posting the details over the week-end.

April;s Ornament

These two teenies are my SAL ornaments. My snowflake from  Prairie Schooler was stitched using krenik braid it should have been finished in April but I misplaced my thread. My May gingerbread man was a lovely freebie I found at xstitchhappy.

Okay ladies I would like some advice please. A family friend asked me to make a Wedding present for her. After showing her a selection off charts she is down to two. The other one I can;t show you as its the chart that I actually stitched for her and hubbys Silver Wedding many years ago. The design was from an old UK mag and the lady still has the magazine. This one is Wedding Spots by The Trilogy. My dilemma is the wedding colours are black and white. I;m not keen on the greyish thread colours in this one and the lady doesn;t like the colour of the fabric. I think black and white could be quite striking but what colour off fabric would you stitch it on? It;s also very difficult to get a square shaped frame. Do you think it would be okay if I didn;t stitch the border and made it into an ornament hanging with seed beads around the edge. HELP!
I hope everyone is having a lovely week-end and your stitches are many. Hugs!

Lovely RAKs.

I love that design , you could always sub the grey for silver . I'd be tempted to stitch it on red , but that's just me , lol . Beaded hanging sounds lovely , or you could go with a ring cushion type finish.
Shout if you need any help .XXX

Hi

Love your ornament finishes - I've put the gingerbread man on my to do list(:

I wouldn't be brave enough to stitch it on any other colour but white.
I agree that it is difficult to find square frames and I think a beaded hanging or pillow would be lovely.
Your Raks are both great.

Thank you Lainey for my lovely surprise. I truly love it! Looking forward to the next exchange.

I think Black and white would definitely by lovely on a neutral gray or natural linen. I beaded hanging ornament or a flat fold finish would both be great.

Good luck, can't wait to see what you come up with.

mmmmm what colours is she having for the wedding colours ??? you could stitch the ribbon and the flowers with that colour and use a complimentary one for the other bits ...
do the cake and the doves in white and what about doing petite rainbow braid for the rings either gold or silver ??? use that to highlight the bells too ???
what is the suggested fabric ?? as it looks neutral to me ??

size of frame needed square would be ???? only asking in case find on my travels or can say where to get ...lol
gosh nearly wrote an essay heheheh
if you want any more help just email me :)

Great RAKS Elaine you made a great job.
Love the idea of the exchange.
What about a pale silver blue grey for the wedding stitching or pale pink always looks nice with black, hugs.

I'm afraid I'm no help with the wedding sampler but I do love the RAKs you sent & the ornaments you stitched : ) Good idea what you're planning for the exchanges as well!

Gorgeous gifts sent. Love your gingerbread man. I think a pillow would make a great wedding gift perhaps you could use some of the wedding colours.

Love all of your stitchy goodies, Lainey!! As for the wedding sampler, I love the idea of black and white and the beads/pillow. As for the color, how about Picture This Plus, either the Fog or Pewter color? Can't wait to see what you decide on!

Lovely raks you made Lainey!!! I like the little snowflake and gingerbread man too! As for the wedding sampler, the only colour I can think of that will offset black and white is gray. A medium or light gray. Hope that helps!

Gorgeous ornaments your stitched for your RAK's. I can see why you are having a bit of struggle with the wedding sampler! I think that the black and white would look great on a pale pink or lilac fabric. Do you know if there are any other colours in the wedding party - if so you may be able to incorporate that into the sampler. Good luck

Beautiful RAKs, for sure the recipients loved every single piece. Also like your gingerbread man, so cute. About the wedding piece, I think it is a lovely design, at least I like it a lot :) Maybe you can finish it off as a pillow? Maybe the grey colours could be changed into light blue?

Wow what great RAKs!!! It could be very striking on black and white but it could be a little stark either. How about an almost grey tinged white on black?
