Heathers Prom!

Thank you so much to everyone who left the kind comments on my previous post. I am feeling much better now but I couldn;t have gotten sick at a worse time. Being sick meant I wasn;t able to collect Heathers dress for her Prom until Saturday and as if we didn;t have enough to do we decided to paint and decorate our dining-room over the week-end. We don;t have a very large room but it seemed to take forever to do. We didn't get to bed until 2.00am Monday and Tuesday night, so by Wednesday morning, the day of Heathers prom I was running around like a headless chicken.
Heather is not a girly-girl, make-up and fashion aren;t really her thing, so it was a real treat for us to see her all grown-up in her dress. Our baby girl has turned into a beautiful young woman. The Prom was held in the Crutherland Hotel in the town of East Kilbride about twenty minutes drive from our home. Sadly the kids had left it too late to book a Limo so they had to hire a coach. It was quite a site seeing some of the girls trying to get onto a bus in their dresses. Heather said the three course meal they had was lovely and everyone enjoyed the ceiladh/disco. I hope I don;t  bore anyone too much but Proms are still a relatively new idea here in Scotland and  I just have to share all the lovely photographs I took. My blog will be back to normal in the next post , when I will have some stitching up-dates. Hope everyone has a good week-end. Hugs!

Your daughter looks like a movie star! All the girls look beautiful. I had no idea the guys would wear traditional kilts. That is so cool.

These pictures are so so lovely. Heather is so beautiful as well as are all of the girls. It's so nice to see that there are those that still dress nice . These days there are so many girls that dress so inappropriately for things like this. These girls really have style. And those boys!! Wow! It's so nice to see young men in kilts. We've been looking into getting one for my husband as he has Scotch heritage and would be under the Martin Clan. They do get expensive don't they?! My part time boss has a kilt and his sporn (wee beastie as some may call them) is made of reindeer.

You have such a beautiful daughter! And the boys look handsome, especially in their kilts!

When I was at school, we dressed in old clothes for "The oldest's day" but nowadays it is more like a ball in Finland too. With all the lovely dances. I include a link to see something:

Heather is such a beautiful girl!! What a fantastic dress. I love the guys being in kilts, too. My cousin married a MacKinnon whose grandfather was from Scotland, and the MacKinnons are all HUGE into their Scottish heritage. The groomsmen all wore kilts and the women had tartan plaid in their bouquets at their wedding.

Debs and grads are the popular thing in Ireland. I didn't realize that the neighbors came out to see the girls go off till a few days after my daughter's grad, when people asked when they'd get to see her leave! LOL Interesting how different--yet similar--the traditions all are!
