Meet Sheldon & A New Exchange!

Just popping in to introduce the latest member to the family. My DS and DD surprised me with him a few weeks ago. I screamed with delight when I opened the package. Non sheep lovers stop groaning..lol. Catherine, Sally, Barb and all the other sheep lovers try not to be too jealous just be happy for me..hehehe.

We had a bit off a family debate to name him but finally settled on "Sheldon". We are huge fans of the US show The Big Bang Theory and Sheldon always makes us smile. My neighbour kindly let me take some photographs in her garden but sadly Sheldon will have to live in our home, if we leave him outside he may go  a wandering.

Happy Easter & Other Stuff!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

I hope you are all having a lovely Easter week-end surrounded by family, friends and a few Easter choccie treats. I can;t quite bring myself too eat my Easter chocolate but more about that later. As you can see the bunnies have been busy. My Mum knitted these cuties too raise funds for her church. The kids big and small loved them, especially when they discovered a cadburys egg inside.

As my regular visitors and friends know I haven;t been around much these days as the priority in the Main Hoose for nearly a year now has been the care of my Mother-in-law. Last week we finally got her moved into a Very Sheltered Housing apartment. For the last two weeks my DH and myself have been painter, decorater, plumber, electrician, carpenter you name it we have had to set up the whole house from scratch. The tips of my fingers have worn away, every bone in my body aches and my brain is totally fried. As the quote says

"I;m so tired, my tired is tired "

Thankfully though the move went smoothly and my Mother-in-law has settled in very well. I hope that her Alzheimeirs doesn;t progress too quickly and she will get the benefit and little by little we will gain more time for our DD, DS and other family member and friends in the days and months ahead.

I have no idea how I managed it but I did find some time in early March before the madness started to stitch. This is my March ornament for my monthly SAL.

I also finished my Happy Mood wip. I started this in April 2010. Sadly the photo doesn;t show the lovely bright colours that I used and the fabric is actually a very pale lemon. I;m hoping to have it finished into a patchwork pillow.

Now get your dancing shoes on girls and join in my highland fling! I am so happy to have finished my Willow House by Blackbird Designs. As you will see I decided to stitch it horizontally rather than vertically. I also changed the colours too the threads I had in my stash and I;m so pleased how it turned it out. I just love the blue house and flower basket though the lazy daisy stitches were a first for me. I started this piece in June 2010 and even though it has taken me so long I have loved every stitch. As this is the year off our Silver Wedding I had planned to put our initials and wedding date but as this part was my final stitches something told me that as the last year had been all about my Mother in law I had to use hers.

I;ve also decided this is not one I will be adding to my finished box as soon as I have the cash I;m going to have it framed.

Apart from my Snowflake Ornament I have no idea what my stitching plans will be for the rest of April. Should I pull out another wip or maybe a new start would be more fun. All being well I will get to play with my stash soon.

Finally my DD Heather bought my this adorable chocolate sheep for Mothers Day. I told her I would keep it until Easter Sunday but oh my I can;t bare to eat him..lol. Sally and Barb please stop drooling over your keyboard!

Stitchy Gifts & Chart help please!

Well here we are nearly mid March already. I wish I could say I was bouncing with the joys of spring but I;m still not very well, constantly wearing my crabby pants and my heads still rotating with all the stress and problems taking care of my MIL. The one good point though is my stitching helps me to forgot about it all. First let me share this little Birthday treat I made for the lovely Lesleyanne She has a fondness for coffee and Lizzie Kate so I thought this would be the perfect design. I really enjoyed the stitching but making up the pillow gave me a few lets say colourful moments..lol. Thankfully Lesleyanne couldn;t find my flaws and she was delighted with her gifts.

As I was laid up in bed most of last week I didn't get as much done on my new "Out on a Limb" chart as I would have liked. I am enjoying this one and will pick it back up later in the month.

I promised myself I would tackle some of my wips this month so the last few days I;ve been working on Happy Moood by Barbara Ana Designs. I started this on the 6th of April 2010. Why I put it aside I don;t know.  It;s stitching up really quick and all being well it should be finished by tomorrow. Once again my awful photograph doesn;t show up the pretty thread colours and pale lemon fabric I;m using.

Look at these pretty packages my postman brought me last week. They were a delight that truly brightened up this old crabby pants day, a wonderful suprise from my dear friend June

I;ve got lots of uses for those pretty ribbons and buttons but oh my isn;t my stitching notebook just gorgeous!!! As I told June I have a fetish for pretty notebooks so I absolutely love it. How cute are the little scissors and the ribbon mouse tab. June;s talents are just no end, thank you so much my dear.

Now as if that wasn;t enough a few days later my postman brought me this little gem from another special sweet friend.  Dear Michelle had made this beautiful RAK for me. I just loved it when I saw it on her blog and was going to email her to ask if I could borrow the chart. I had a little bubble (its my age..lol) when I opened up the package and saw Michelle had sent it to me, she is such a sweet friend with the biggest heart.

I;ve just been asked by a family friend to stitch a Wedding piece for another member of their family. I would love to have some chart suggestions. I only have one or two charts that I could use but there both a bit old fashioned for a young couple, help!

Mondays Mumbles!

Well here we are already into the first week of March, crazy or what! I just had to have a new start this month so I decided on this chart by Primrose Needlecrafts from my stash.

This is how far I got yesterday. I;m really enjoying stitching this one and so far it;s going well.

I;ve also made a start on my March monthly ornament. This months has been taken from part of the Snowflake Serenade Design by Country Cottage Needleworks.

As well as the new starts this month my plans are to put at least some stitches in these wips as well.

As my regular readers know February was my month for my stitchy sheep. I only managed to finish these two little pillows for myself and the one that I did for Barbs Birthday.

My dear sweet friend Edit sent me this wonderful surprise last week of this gorgeous pillow and bookmark.  When she saw the fabric she said it was just crying out to stitch me a sheep. Isn;t it beautiful and I just love the sweet charm and the darling bookmark which will be well used. Even though I have a kindle I still love the feel off a good book in my hand. Thank you so much Edit I was so touched by your beautiful gift.

Finally thank you to everyone who left a comment on the Quilt gallery I hope you enjoyed viewing them as much as we did. The kids gave me some money to buy some early Mothers Day stash treats. Don;t know how I managed it but I seem to have a few new followers. How I Wish I Could Quilt and you will too when you see these!

I haven;t had a great week this week but today I had a lovely day out with my dear Mum. We decided at the last minute to venture through to Edinburgh to a Spring Quilt show. Though I don;t quilt I managed to pick up a few bits and pieces but I will leave that until another post. I just had to share these images off some of the Quilts. No matter what kind off craft you do you just have to appreciate these stunning "paintings on fabric". The little mini ones were in a competition, first prize was the bluebell woods. There all beautiful but if I had to choose my top three in the main Quilts it would be The Magical Isle, Ladies holding hands around the world and the time piece one with the watches.
